Common Questions
These are all common questions about magnetboard riding. Any questions you have about prices or how to get a board and some shoes can all be found on the order page.
Your stuck to the board and can’t move your feet, how do you get off?
This I explain and show the most. Lift and peel your heel up starting with the back foot and it pops right off. Both feet can do this too simultaneously. For a simple get off you would peel the back foot, put it in the middle of the board where it’s not stuck, then the front foot placing it on the ground.
((4/2/09 I’ll have a video here showing this soon))
HOW STRONG ARE THE MAGNETS?

Understand that a magnets’ force works the strongets straight up and down and that’s where the lift is. The device I make that goes into the shoe is designed to enhance that and at the same time provide leverage for getting off your board.
CAN YOUR FEET MOVE AROUND?
Your feet can swivel around the way I created the strong single magnet and gives a very comfortable feel in doing so. The other thing is I realized, kids that are shoe size 6 and under don’t always have the fine tuned muscle strength and control for getting it to release smoothly with the strong magnet. So for these small sizes I have them built differently inside the shoe to enable a better, easier release. I guard the exact details of my documented designs and how they work but am always happy to demonstrate in person to people.
Do you crash alot with these?
At first you kinda do until you figure out how to get off quickly like I stated above. But even so there will be lot’s of times when you bail that you will look like a snowboarder laying on the ground with your board over your head. I highly recommend wrist guards! I’ve bailed and crashed enough on regular skateboards and firmly believe it’s the most common injury to get in skateboarding is the wrists. I’ve broken and sprained both of mine and probably felt the most
comfortable in my head riding with a cast on my wrist knowing nothing could be done to it then! I woudn’t recomend that though and just avoid breaks and sprains by wearing them when your riding hard.
You can’t push or peddle?- Bikers peddle, skaters push! Lol. By now you know how the feet come off if you read the above. If you push mongo you will just have to learn to push with your back foot too. So once again, peel off the back foot and peddle with it- I MEAN PUSH! Lol
Don’t forget, your feet can swivel with the magnet so have your front foot however you like when your pushing.
Can you kickflip?-
The toes of your shoes are not magnetized so there’s no reason a good kick flipper can’t kick flip it. Turn the board around and your not stuck don’t forget. Figure out some mixed up tricks! Like catching the board with the magnets or some crazy _ _ _ _ like that! I can’t even kickflip myself so it never bothers me anyway, but I know it’s important to most. So the answer is YES it can be done and I even have some video of kids kickflipping it.
Would it be allowed in a contest?-
Would be pretty funny! Now instead of just playing S-K-A-T-E with a friend you both could play Magnet S-K-A-T-E to think up more tricks.
What made you think of this?
Snowboarding and goofing around. I also got aproached to ride pro and help engineer the first magnet skateboard design around the yr. 1999. by a small upstarting company that knew very little about skateboarding and the business. In the end it got the best of them. But I continued to stick with the idea and develope it further and re-engineering the designs to where I have it today. I have several different prototypes and with an awseome one that is patent-pending and is impossible to make on my own without it being manufactured. The simpler version is what I’m able to currently make now for myself and others that are interested. I protect all versions of my prototypes and is why you don’t see close-up pictures of the actual working mechanisms. Just know that it works! And is very hard and costly to make on your own. You don’t want to mess up good shoes if your not sure!
Is it Cheating or Just Fun?
The purist can either see it as cheating or just another fun clever way to have fun on a skateboard. How you see it is probably fun if your reading this and are dying to try or get one. I’m a purist at heart with the kid still in me, and so that’s how I see it when I’m enjoying myself riding one. But you probably know, with or without magnets, kids will still be trying things like older guys did when they were younger. Duct taping their feet to the board, using inner tubes from bikes and lifting their boards with them etc. I did all those things too and remember getting wrecked hard from all those funny ideas. The magnets are like a high tech funny version of all those but seem to make the most sense. Better than velcro!
Are you good on a regular board too?
I’ve been riding a long time and riding vert has always been my real passion in skateboarding. I was able to get sponsored and travel for contests all over the country. If you see me riding it will most likely be on a ramp, bowl or pool. Above is me doing a
Handplant without magnets and to the right with.
Each is just as challenging and fun!
I’m not a big new school street skater and into kick-flipping my board all day. I just didn’t grow up skating that way. It’s the simple stuff I like best like just getting up into a perfect stall on a curb or ledge and then coming off it fakie or just spinning away. I think even new schoolers can find ways to enjoy the simple pleasures of a snowboard type feel now and then and consider a fun second board set-up with magnets.
Are the magnet boards good for all types of skating, like vert?
I don’t recommend trying the magnets too much on vert though. You end up pulling away from the wall too much and bailing becomes harder. You can do it though with a light touch if your brave enough and really want to. Under-vert is where it shines the best though and is the funnest and where you can control it better.
When I ride my magnet board in a skatepark I like to similate vert tricks on whatever I’m riding and practice flowing snowboard types of airs and spins. The magnets are perfect for when your riding something under vert and you are using them to pull your board with you. Hard to explain until you try yourself.
Street cruising becomes really fun around town, you can take advantage of softer wheels now that you don’t need all that ‘pop’. Get up on ledges and do all these stall type tricks, go over curbs easy. Show off a shifty air in front of all your friends, explode their ego’s!
How long have you been riding with magnets?
I’ve been riding and expiermenting with them for over 8 years now. Been riding regular skateboards and snowboards for over twice as long.
Is it addictive?
It won’t take over your normal way of riding, only add to the fun. I switch it up all the time. Easy to do since you can turn the board around and ride normal again. I design the shoes so that you can even take the magnets out if you wanted to!
Not for Beginners?
Yeah you don’t want to have magnets if you are brand new to skating and still figuring out how to turn with your trucks and feet positioning etc. Get the basic skills down first and then see how much of a dare-devil you were made to be!
You have to have the basic skills down first of regular riding. Please see warnings at bottom of page and assume responsibilities for your skating.

This is a publicly documented invention design with hard to find parts, very unique and one of a kind. I have been expiermenting with magnets for quite a few years now and have had lots of fun trying new crazy ideas and letting others try out my high tech inventions. Each board and shoe can take awhile to build so I just sell what I have made and ridden and only make new one’s when somebody requests one. Manufacture inquiry’s are welcome.
